The amazon is the single largest tropical rainforest, accounting for 30% of all the tropical rainforests left in the world. The Amazon contains one tenth of the world’s plant and animal species. The Amazon basin is the largest reservoir of fresh water on the planet. A fifth of all running water on earth flows through the Amazon.
